Display only Categories no thumbnails

I have searched the forum and couldn't find an answer that would work for what I am trying to do.

I want on my main page only to show the category and album listings but no thumbnails. Anyway to do this?

login as admin,  config page setting, under album list view, Show first level album thumbnails in categories (select NO)
