Undefined variable: _SERVER Upload errors

Hi, my first post here, so please be gentle.  I've been using the pnCPG on another site on the same server for a while now with no complaints.  Great piece of software.  I just installed a fresh stand alone version of Coppermine 1.3.2 and everything so far seems to work good with the exception of uploads.

When in Admin mode and I select Batch add files, it just shows a screen that says:

      This function allows you to add a batch of file that your have uploaded to your server by FTP.

      Select the directory where you have uploaded your files  

...and stops there.

Also when I select Upload file from the users menu, it looks fine, but would not upload files.  When I turned on debug mode, I get the following errors:

  Not sure why this would not work on here, but does under postnuke on the other site I'm running.  I don't have access to change on php config on this server, but should I need to since the other install seems to be working fine?

Your version of PHP is too old, you need at least version 4.1.0 to run coppermine.

Now I see that...What's the newest version that I can run with this version of PHP?  I see that 1.1.0 seems to run fine.

You're going to have problems with other scripts if you are unable to upgrade. 1.1.0 is unsupported now.
