Hi, i'm an old user of coppermine and I just download the 1.3 standalone version.
I recently change my mysql host server and the new has'nt got a DNS address but the classic numeric address ( example: 62.149.150.27)
When i proceed with the coppermine's installation, the error message that appear is:

Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to MySQL server on '62.149.150.27' (4)

??? what is? how can i solve it?

ps: excuse my english, i'm italian.

There are several things that could be wrong. Is the mysql host separate from your web host? It might be better to ask your mysql host for help, unless they don't provide good support.

Lele

yes, the mysql host is separated from the webhost. the mysql host associated with the webspace of my site gave me a lot of query problem...i had more than 10000 query everyday and coppermine crashed a lot of times.

So i bought another mysql host.
the only difference is the name of the host...
the first was:

mysql.memoriesofapocalypse.com

and the second was:

62.149.150.27

The installation of coppermine was quick and with no trouble in the first but in the second.....

Is it possible that you have to set it up to allow your domain to access the database? That's why I think it would help to contact the people running the mysql server since they should know how to set things up. Have you been able to connect to the dB with another script beside coppermine?

Lele

oh yes.......i also installed a guestbook in my new sql db in order to check it out. Right now i've just deleted it.

What can i do in order to set up the dB before the installation of coppermine? I can operate on the dB with phpMyAdmin....

Lele

H E L P !
I'm really desparate!!!!!!

I'm sure you are, but this isn't an instant response board - give everyone some time to get to your issue.  Most of us have jobs and aren't here 24/7.
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions
But there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

Joachim Müller

did you do as suggested and ask your new webhost (where the database with the IP address is hosted) for support?
