For some reason I am unable to access my oppermine photo gallery.  It will not accept login or give me my log in when asked for it via email.  It worked fine two days ago.  Now I get an error page when I click the email "forgot" function.  --->

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, support@supportwebsite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

What to do?

Wow, no replies?  Is there some other method of getting technical service?

Have you changed anything? If not, you should see if your host did.

Why ask for support on the feature requests board ?

Have you checked your server logs yet?

I have not changed anything.  And quite frankly, I do not know what server logs are!  Can anyone offer help about that, please?

I uploaded an image the day before with no trouble.

Again, I cannot even get a reply to the "forgot your password".

kegobeer

Check out apache.org for an explanation on server logs:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/logs.html

While you're there, it would be a good idea to read about the Apache server in general.  This way you'll have a basic understanding on how a server works, and how it integrates with MySQL and PHP.

Until you check your logs for errors there's nothing I can do to help you.  Hard to diagnose the problem when I don't know what the problem is.

Thanks much Kegobeer, but obviously I have no knowlege of servers and how to check my server log.  I will llok at the link more but did not see where I could get instruction on how to check "my" log.

What does a server log have to do with asking for my user password anyway?  I have checked this same function off of other places: forums, that offer the same function by signing out and asking them to email my password.  They are working so why won't Coppermine?

I use two different pc's from two different IP's.  Would this be an issue suddenly and why?  For instance, I am writing this off a WIN NT, which I have never had trouble with before.  At home I use WIN 98.

Bottom line is, I cannot log in to my Coppermine gallery.

kegobeer

Ask your webhost how to access your logs.

Post a link to your Coppermine gallery.  I wasn't able to find it anywhere on your page, or a forum link for that matter.

Kegobeer,

I really appreciate your help!

Here is my link:

Now this Coppermine photo album was offered to me through "GoDaddy.com",  are they the culpret for the sudden password issue?  They host my website but are not my ISP.  Sorry I am so confused but the more input I get from people who know (like you), the more I learn.

I am rather dependent on hosting my photos on the net as I use them for advertising in my small business.  I am not satisfied with options like Sony's Image Station and some others and thought Coppermine was more like a GOLD mine.   :)  Especially after using it.

Anyhoo, I can't say I've never had trouble retreiving a password!  I have noticed my cookies are stored here at the home pc and I can access my Coppermine site but it absolutely will not allow my to change my password so I can get into it from my office pc.  I still need access from my pc at work as I have many photos downloaded and sized on Photoshop and they are ready for upload.  I do not have a burner/RW on that machine, if I did, this would not be an issue.  I am not allowed to add software or hardware to it.

Again, I appreciate your time and input.

kegobeer

I suggest asking GoDaddy how to access your server logs.  They may have done something recently that may be impacting your site.  And since it's their version of Coppermine and not the original, you may get your best help from them - we can only offer help on versions we've made.  We have no idea what changes, if any, the people at GoDaddy have made to Coppermine.

As for changing your password - I don't know why you'd need to change your password.  You are supposed to have one login/password for your Coppermine user, not several.  Just access your site from work and use the same login/password you use from your home PC.

I'll look at your site when I get some time, probably later on today.

Now I believe I know my password, however, it will not function here on my office PC.  I was able to upload a photo from the home PC last night and I also added a second user (myself).  I cannot recover the password or even change it from the home PC.  I was going to change it to enable me to log in here on my office PC.  Kind of like starting over, so to speak.  I will attempt to upload photos from here today on the new user I created, but see that user has a limit on how many photos it can upload.

I will see what Go Daddy has to say too.  I did not know they had their own version.  Learn something new everyday!

Bloody HAY....  I've got it to work!  Don't know how or why.  I've put the same password in about 4 dozen times and now it has taken it.  OK- from this point I am ON!   :)

Thanks for your assistance, Kegobeer (BTW- G&T's are better than beer)  :-*

kegobeer

Not when your last name has the word 'beer' in it!  Besides, Jack and Coke is much better than G&T or beer.  ;D
