Hotlinking to Images

When I add an image to my album, where is it stored? I found a folder in the /albums folder called "userpics" it contains *some* of the images that are in my gallery, but not all of them. How do I "hotlink" to the image itself using the [img] tag format? If I know the exact http:// path to the .jpg I can do it, but I don't know the exact path.
