i can't upload GIF files why?

ok

i can only upload jpg files
GIF files wouldn't work.

it will just say 0 files uploaded successful.
do i need to enable something to upload gif?

Have you read the documentation that comes with Coppermine, or done a search for GIF support?  Both places talk about GIF support when using GD.
