Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/johnston/public_html/pics/includ

Hi

I did a cpanel upgrade a few months ago. Every since, I've been getting this error on my index.php page:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/johnston/public_html/pics/include/functions.inc.php on line 1142

Can anyone tell my why this is happening and what I might do to fix it?

Easiest thing is to download a fresh copy from the CVS.

Thanks for the response. I had done that originally after seeing that suggestion elsewhere on the board. Any other suggestions?

Did you do it for functions.inc.php? I thought the error was on the index page but the error message points to functions.inc.php

Yes, I did both.

The first error I got was similar untill I replaced the index.php then I got the functions.inc.php error.
