This is a tool to convert coppermine users to punbb users for bridging purposes, retaining file and comment ownership, viewing permissions, group membership, and profile fields. It is made as a plugin for Punbb 1.2 and supports importing from cpg 1.3.x and 1.4.x

Would this be able to keep uploaded pictures of my users even after bridging to PunBB?

Joachim Müller

pictures are always kept once you bridge. The only drawback of bridging is that the correlation between the users who originally uploaded the files and the "new" bbs users get lost when you enable bridging. This is what Nibbler's hack takes care of: if keeps the correlation between "old" users (and the files they uploaded) and the "new" punbb users.

I see, i was under the impression that all files and users will be lost if you bridge with a bbs, just like the warning says in the docs. Or am i just being silly? and not understanding. lol.

Nibbler

The warning is overly cautious, like 'may contain nuts'. It doesn't deliberately delete the pics, you just lose ownership correlation, and so user galleries tend to get messed up.

I am new to PHP... I'm learning fast though...

I am trying to merge punbb and coppermine.... when i open the site whether it is the forum or photo gallery and try to login... it directs me to the forum login... i'm assuming i need to put links to the gallery on the forum? also... when i log into the forum and just manually type in the gallery's address... it indicates that i am not logged in... a lil guidance is appreciated...

thanks

Start a thread of your own on the bridging support board, doing exacxtly as suggested in the sticky thread on that board. A reference to this thread in your new thread might help as well. Make sure to read board rules before doing anything else - it's mandatory to read board rules before being allowed to post here.
