The tumb nails look very funny what setting should i change

All my tumbnails look funny but when i click on the picture its looks ok. I am sure this is a silly problem but we have to server and both have the same problem

Are you using GD1 ? If so switch to GD2 or ImageMagick in config and then rebuild the thumbnails using admin tools.
