Splitting up Categories

Is there any way to split up the categories without the need for Private Albums, where users can go to either one or the other gallery without a [Home] Link?

For instance, I have a general gallery and a portfolio gallery, and on the portfolio gallery specifically, I would like businesses to see ONLY that. Getting rid of the Home button would be fine, so that the Initial link is just set at the Parent Category level.

i need to be able to do something similar.  i need to be able to move their galleries from a singular member directory and place them into multiple other directories chosen by city/states they live in.
