I want to set up sub-categories but can't do it because there are no Parent Categories showing in the drop down list in the administrators category area. How do I get the Parent Categorie to show up?

If you want sub-categories you have to first create a parent category for those sub-categories to go under.

The "parent" category isn't a special type of category. It's just a regular category that has already been created.

Cat 0 is the root category. ie "index.php" and "index.php?cat=0" is the same thing.

By default all categories you create and leave the parent category blank, are really assigned a parent of cat=0.

Once you begin creating categories they will start popping up in your list to choose as a parent.
