hi,

i am having trouble uploading files.  when i use the upload.php page, i can upload files if i us the uri option and upload a file from another website.  however, when i try to upload something from my computer using the file option, i get a "Page cannot be displayed error in IE or in Firefox i get "Alert:  the document contains no data."  I then tried using the batch file ftp upload.  this worked fine.  i then tried to delete the photos i was able to upload by using the URI and Batch FTp options and they could be deleted without error.  i don't think it is a permissions error, because i am able to upload using the other options.  i just encounter an error when trying to upload a file using the File option.  i also tried changing from the multiple to single option.  still get the error.

PS...I did contact my webhost and they said the the permissions have been set properly.

thank you

post a link and non-admin test user account with upload privileges, with debug mode enabled for everyone (in coppermine's config), notices display turned off and file upload method set to "Single file uploads only" in the groups panel for all relevant groups.

I get "Sorry there is no album where you are allowed to upload files". Either create a public album and allow file uploads there for registered users, or allow registered users to have private albums.

everything worked as expected for me, I was able to upload a file just fine - see http://photo.ryanrhody.com/displayimage.php?pos=-9
If upload doesn't work for you, make sure you're using a known-good, small (both filesize and dimensions) jpeg file for a start. If you still can't upload, it may be connected to something strange on your client (usually some "internet security" software like Norton's infamous security suite, or a firewall or another virus scanner. Temporarily disable you client-sided security software and check if this fixes your issues.

thank you for your help,

i'm not sure what is going on...i tried to upload the exact same image you did using the test account...in IE i still get the page can not be displayed and in FireFox, i get the no data error...i turned off my windows firewall, and have nothing else that i know of that would be blocking the image...it is stange because i can upload word documents, but the pics give me errors...

as long as i know other can post, it should be ok...

thank you for your time

Joachim Müller

please post the exact error message you get in firefox (preferrably a screenshot that shows the address bar as well).

it must be something with my network...i tried to upload photos from another computer and still get the error...

also when i tried to attach the screenshot to this post, i got the same error...

Joachim Müller

yes, definitely something on your client or network (if you can't even attach files to your postings on this board). Are you behind a proxy, or do you run your own network? You might want to ask your ISP for support.

I thank you for all your help...

Today it was finally confirmed, my router/switch was causing the problem.
Last night it died and today I bought a new one.  Hooked it up and now I have no problems.  It seems that the old one has been dying over the past week.  The problem was with my network.

Once again I thank you for all your help.
