PhPBB 2.0.8 and Coppermine Login Problem

Hi there!  I've just updated the files per the integration directions on the Coppermine manual.  I'm not getting any horrible error messages or anything so I think I did things sorta right.

However - when I pull up my Coppermine Gallery and click "Login" it takes me to my phpbb board login page (which I guess is normal) - however once I am logged in on the board and navigate back to the Gallery - I am not logged in there.  (Which means I can't login as admin or anything in the Gallery.)

I've created a test user (using the PhPBB admin panel):

First, you really need to upgrade your phpbb 2.0.15 to fix several security issues since 2.0.8.

Are phpbb and coppermine in the same database ?

I've just upgraded the PhPBB to 2.0.13 (which is the highest the Fantastico at my host was offering).

I'm not really sure what you mean by are the Coppermine and Phpbb in the same database.  How do I check?

you shouldn't use fantastico builds, but the actual packages (the original phpBB software that is available on the phpBB site). The admin panel of phpBB should tell you on which database it is installed. Check your_coppermine_dir/include/config.inc.php to find out on what database coppermine is installed.
IMO auto-installers like fantastico suck for this very reason: users are lured into not understanding the software good enough to be able to fully control and maintain it. Ask your webhost if you can't figure out on which databases your apps are.
