coppermine with GD1.6 - what can I do

I have GD 1.6, so when I try to upload picturies, I see these error messeges:


The picture 'modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/10003/1.jpg' can't be inserted in the album

Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.

ask host friendly if they want to upgrade OR ELSE SEW THEM hehehe.
No just kidding, else move to a other host which supports GD 1.8 or higher
