It would be nice if there were a Config preference for the display of statistics - both those for the individual categories in general, and the overall gallery.  While I've kept the gallery statistics on my board (the footer at the bottom), I had to hack include/themes.inc.php to manually remove the code that displays albums / pages statistics for each category.  (I found that slightly distracting.)
