Is it possible to install more than one copy of COPPERMINE on my servers? The default directory is CPG. My ISP said all I have to do is rename the directory and then instal another version. If this is true, how do ALL the internal DB pointers get corrected?
I'd like to use CM for several galleries and need to know what I have to do to install more than one copy, which files I need to change (and how) and if it is even possible. Many thanks

yes, it is possible, just make sure to choose another database prefix for the new install (in coppermine's install scren) than the one you chose for your existing install. There's no limit on the number of coppermine galleries on your server. However, this is not necessary in most cases: users have asked this question before, and on further looking into it, it turned out that what they wanted to accomplish could be done with only one gallery. Suggestion: post an explanation what you actually want to accomplish, and reference to the coppermine version you're asking this for (a link to your existing gallery might help as well), so maybe we could show you alternatives.

Ah! Let me explain. In order to install another copy of Coppermine from my ISP's installed program, I MUST rename the current directory from CPG to something else, otherwise I do not receive an INSTALL option. All I get is an offer to either read the documentation, or UNINSTAL the current installation.
So, Step # 1 for me is to change the directory nameof the existing installation and I'm back to my original quesiton, i.e. how will that afect the current DB and can I fix it?

Second where do I locate the EXACT name of the current DB so that I can pick something else other than the default(but I know it will become the default when I instal another copy after renaming the directory of the existing installation - phew!)

Effectively, I need x number of galeries for DFFERENT application. ALL are photographs, but of a different nature, and on different subdomains.

Example, I need one for General Photography, one for SECURED XXX images, one for MOdels, one for clients, etc - get the idea? I cannot segergate them withing ONE DB for security reasons. Besides, some are free, others are subscription.

Thanks for a wonderful, concise explaation, and I hope I have clarfied my dilemma here for you to help me with.

I LOVE Coppermine, and don't want to use 4Images which is clunky, slow and complcated. It is also puke yellow by default! :(

Thanks in advance

The version I am using is: 1.3 - I think? Where would I look? The gallery is located at: http://www.pdistudios.com/cpg/index.php

We can't support you in the use of some autoinstaller that we aren't familiar with. Download coppermine from us and you can install it exactly where you like. Database details are stored in include/config.inc.php, and changing coppermine's folder name is fine as long as you update the url of your gallery on the config screen. You are running Coppermine 1.3.2 which has a known security vulnerability, please update your gallery.

OK, thanks. So far, I have renamed the directory to cmine, which seems to be OK. There is no reference to the directory in the config.inc file, unless it is the

CONFIG['TABLE_PREFIX'] =                'cmine132_'; line,

which I changed to cmine from CPG.

This appeared to work.

However, when I now perform a test register, one file somewhere looks for the CPG directory in order to register new users (obviously).

It seems that all I need to do now is point the new user registrations to the register.php file.

Currently, it looks under the old CPG directory. Which file do I need to edit to make registrations look in the new, CMINE directory?

If I can get *that* to work, it seems this may be all that is required to install multiple copies of Coppermine

Many thanks
