I currently have a Coppermine v1.3 gallery bridged with an IPB v1.3 forum.

I'm going to start working on a second version of my website, but am lost as to what to do with my gallery and forum.  I can't afford to lose all my gallery's files (over 5,000 and counting) nor all the forum's topics, as they contain important information for my site.

On my new site I'm going to use an IPB v2.04 forum and will install and bridge Coppermine v1.4 as soon as a stable version is released.

Now, my problem is this:

I don't want to upgrade my forum right now, because then I'll have to rebridge my gallery and also the next version of the site is a surprise release, so I don't want the forum to be upgraded when the rest of the site isn't.  What I thought I would do is install the new IPB 2.04 forum in a different directory and set it up to use the same MySQL database (IPB supports table prefxes so technically nothing should be overwritten).  That way, both forums would work and use the same database and I can upgrade my Coppermine gallery and bridge it with the 2.04 forum when CPG 1.4 is released.

However, I don't know if that's possible to do.  It seems plausible but I don't know much about how databases work. Obviously, the CPG 1.3 bridge wouldn't work with the IPB 2.04 forum but would it still work (without any errors or anything) with the IPB 1.3 forum?

Hope that's not too confusing...What I mean is, would it be alright if I installed a second IPB 2.04 forum and set it to use the same database as my CPG 1.3 and IPB 1.3? Would it screw anything up?

Thanks, but that doesn't quite answer my question. :-\\ What I was trying to say is, if  I have both an IPB 1.3 and 2.04 forum installed and using the same database, will CPG 1.3x still work fine with the 1.3 forum without any errors?  I don't expect it to work with the 2.04 forum, right now it's going to be used for making skins on and things, and it won't be a public forum.
