I have noticed an odd thing on my gallery. The max upload size is set to 900 X 900 pix but the max intermediate size I have set to 750 pix. The max file size is set to 250 Kb. When I view the 750 image it is not quite as sharp as the 900 pix image. However, the really odd thing is, if I right click on the 900 pix image and check the properties it is less than 250Kb but the 750 pix image shows at anything between 300 and 400 kb.

Is this normal for coppermine under those settings or is my GD2 doing something odd?

Just curious is all.....

what's you quality setting (jpeg compression) in coppermine's config? If your full-sizes are compressed, but your intermediate images don't get compressed, this could easily lead to higher filesizes for intermediates than the original, particularly if the dimensions of the original and intermediate don't differ very much.

Quality for JPEG files is set at 100

well, that's as I expected. Set it to something around 80% - having jpeg files uncompressed is not a good idea imo, as it will lead to ridiculously large files, while quality doesn't improve that much. After setting the compression level to 80, remember to run the "Update thumbs and/or resized photos" in coppermine's admin tools. You'll notice a great difference in file size, with only minimal quality drawbacks.

Thanks for that, I will change the config.
