Images not showing on new Install...

Can't find a specific description of this problem in earlier posts...

New install - went very smoothly, a great solution and easily configured etc BUT uploaded images are not showing.
I just get the thumbnail box - with the X at the top left hand corner. See: http://www.egallery.co.nz/coppermine/index.php

What have  missed in the config please?

right-click, properties of a thumb shows the url: http://www.egallery.co.nz/coppermine/albums//userpics/10001/thumb_book%20front%20view.jpg
When trying to access it you get

403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /coppermine/albums//userpics/10001/thumb_book front view.jpg on this server.

I guess you should review your hotlink protection (.htaccess file).
