Hi All,

Thanks you all for the CPG version 1.4.2.

However I have made so many changes to my old version 1.3.2 (own changes and changes by other people) that I rather stay with the version I have know.

The SEARCH in 1.4.2. is the search I have been looking for.

Question:

Can I install the 1.4.2. SEARCH into 1.3.2.
If yes what do I have to do for this. Just copying the new search.php is not enough.

I hope someone can help me with this request.

I am willing to pay for this modification ????

Maybe it is just a simple mod ??

Anyone can help me out here ??

altenae,

Somehow, I suspect it would be easier to modify a 1.4x set up to match your current 1.32 setup, than to modify your 1.32 setup to run 1.4's search engine.

Having said that, even if you stick to your current 1.3 setup, you really should give consideration to updating your 1.32 to 1.35.  AND, that would mean reworking your modifications, anyway.

Sort of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

no

I second what Dennis said. If it's only theme modifications you applied, it's pretty straightforward to upgrade. If you modified coppermine core files, you might want to use a diff viewer like winmerge.

altenae

Tried to do this with winmerge, but so many things have changed.

Edward.

The only things I want is that you can search in different Custom fields.

Edward,

You really should search for what you specifically want, first.

I would still recommend, however, that you gradually work on updating your setup.  (ie. Install 1.4x in a separate folder on your webhost, read the docs in the "docs" folder of 1.4x and study at the "sample" theme in the themes folderm , and go from there.)

Hello,

I have three custom field nameS:

Airlines
Type
Registration

What I want is a search funtion like the old one, but with 4 radio button below (CHECK BOXES):

All fields (Talking about all fields, the custom + all others, like the old search)
Airlines (Only search in this field)
Type (Only search in this field)
Registration (Only search in this field)

If anyone can help me with this. Let me know ??

If I have this search function in mine 1.3.2. I am a happy person

We (the coppermine devs) won't backport new features from cpg1.4.x to older versions, so don't hold your breath waiting for devs to accomplish this task. There's a slight chance that a third-party freelancer might show up and do what you're requesting. However, I really recommend upgrading. If not for the new features, then for the added security. If you need the feature that badly, make your job offer more attractive for freelancers and post your budget.

Are you sure you wouldn't want someone to update your modified 1.3.2 to 1.4.2, instead?

You should also post a link to your site so those who are interested can see what they are working with.

Hmm,

You see I am very happy with all the mods so far. All mods done so far (Donovan Bray).

Unfortunately, I don't do bridging with phpBB but there are many who do.

I'd say go for the upgrade to 1.42 and get someone to adopt your theme and bridge for the same budget.

The rest of the modifications look easy enough to port over.   This wayh, you kill two birds with one stone and gain in a number of additional features and functions.

altenae

What do you mean with bridging with PHPBB??

I have installed PHPBB almost a year later, and there is no communication between CPG and PHPBB what so ever.

Yours is just a link?

So users of your site have to log into PHBB and  CPG separately?  If so, I could do it for you.

Bridging integrates the two so that they share the same database, password.

You wrote : So users of your site have to log into PHBB and  CPG separately?  If so, I could do it for you.

Yes they logon separately. There is no interaction between CPG and PHPBB. You can see it as two different installs.

The CPG gallery we do only with 5 people. All the visitors can see all of our pictures, but they can not upload. That's why I have removed the login on top of the screen (as you can see)

The mod's done in CPG132 are:

1. You see the thumbnails under latest addition: You did Date added, Date
taken and a url to the album (example here is :Amsterdam Schiphol,
Manchester, etc.)

2. If you scroll down you see the category box. You did the last updated
column and the posibility to click on this and all others (Category,Albums,
Files) to make the sort change.

3. You did: In the main page you see the latest additions, but when clicking
on a category ,for example "The Netherlands" you only see the albums and NOT
aslo the latest additions for the Netherlands, which normally you would see
here again.

4. I think the last one: When clicking on the thumbnail the large picture
will appear. As you can see at www.aviationphotos.org the fields Airlines
(user1), Type (user2),Registration (user3) , sometimes Date (user4),but only
filled in when exif info is not available ,are Bold. Most other things are
commented out, like aperture, filename, filesize, ect, ect.
The fields I want to be visible you can see at www.aviationphotos.org.
Also the description field(to see
www.aviationphotos.org/cpg132/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0#navbar
is displayed below the pictures in bold format and centered and again the
album name (but this could be default)

ALso Donovan made an keyword album for me (at the bottom off http://www.aviationphotos.org)
However when uprading to 1.4.2 on my test server the keyword album was empty.

All these mods are more then an advanced search in 1.3.2.

So see how much work it is and name your price ??

Edward

altenae

For your info, PHPBB and CPG132 uses there own database, so in total I have 2 databases (one for PHBB and one for CPG)

Altenae,

Did you receive the last installment I emailed you?  That should have addressed the remaining issues we were having for your update.
