Template error in user contriubted themes

I've just done a fresh instal of Coppermine 1.4.2, but have problems when using any themes other than those that are installed as standard. First, when in Admin Mode the 'config' button doesn't show up using and themes other than those included with the standard install and when clicking on a thumbnail instead of being taken to the screen displaying the intermediate image I get the following error message:

Failed to find block 'report_file_button'(#(<!-- BEGIN report_file_button -->)(.*?)(<!-- END report_file_button -->)#s) in :
followed by some html code.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

You can only use 1.4 compatible themes, either those designed for 1.4 or themes that have been upgraded following the theme upgrade instructions.
