Download zipped albums?

Does anyone know of an existing way to download a full album in a zip file? Something like adding a full album to the favorites and then clicking the "download zip", but without adding it to the favorites.

I've been asked to add this feature to the gallery and I wonder if it can overload the server when a few people request a zip file over and over again. I guess it's doable by using the same mecahnism as the one in the favorites system.
