XMB + CPG brigde issues & how to do it manually?

I'm currently trying to bridge XMB with CPG. I haven't gotten any specific error messages or anything like that, but all the same, the bridge isn't working correctly. I can't log in to CPG, no matter how many times I re-install the bridge with the wizard.
Because of this, I have a feeling that there's something not working correctly with the wizard.
I'm wondering now how to do the bridging manually. I've only worked with PHP a little before, on trying to bridge older versions of CPG with IPB / phpBB. Any help at all would be very much appreciated.
