How to modify the last add. & random tables to fit theme?

While editing my theme i came up on a problem when it came to editing the tables responsible for the latest additions and random images.   I dont even know where to begin with how to change that table.

Basically i want it to look like the one here.  Except with 2 rows of each.     I need to know what file to go in to edit that, or what i should look for?  i went thru the theme.php file and honestly i dont know what im looking for to get to edit those.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.
