Home Url won't stick

I am having an odd problem, certainly something I am doing wrong. Smoke is coming out of my ears. When I first set up the gallery (version 1.4.1 using fantastico) I went through the config file and everything was working as I wanted. Then I decided to change a few things and also noticed that I had set the home url to go to the gallery url (www.madasbirds.com/gallery/) rather than to the front page of the site (www.madasbirds.com), which is what I want. So I made the change, saved the file, and nothnig changed. Went back in, changed a couple of other things, changed that again, and the change didn't stick. Tried saving it as "/" instead of absolute, no difference. The change is there, it just doesn't show up - when I go into the config file it says the home url is the one I want, but when I go to the gallery, the link hasn't changed. Refreshed and tried a different browswer and nothing - other changes I make in the file ARE showing up when I save.

What could I be doing wrong?

Your current theme does not show the navigation links at all, so there is no Home link to click.

The Home link points to the URL you wanted.
