Getting error message - require help - RESOLVED

Hi,
Not sure this is the right category, but I set up a gallery a while back and now I'm trying to access it and get the following error:

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Please could you help.

Probably means the mysql server is down. Double check the info in include/config.inc.php

i'm afraid I'm none the wiser. The gallery was set up by someone else and I don't really know the ins and outs of this.... where would i find this file?
