Pure-ftpd Help

I need help with finding out what setting in Pure-ftpd I need to change, so when I create a folder using ftp the folder has the right permissions when I ftp files for a batch add it will work. Right now I get an error of no new pictures found. As soon as I login to the server and do a chmod 777 to the folder I created it works fine. I very new at Linux but I do know it is something to do with the umask setting just don't know what it should be or I am looking in the wrong area. Please help. Thanks.
