Can't delete an album

Hi i'm new to coppermine and I have just started to set up my gallery.

I changed the name of an album directory on the server and it messed up the album. So i tried to delete the album in coppermine but i get this error 

Directory 'albums/2003-02-01, Brighton/' is not writable, files can't be deleted 

I have set the permissions on my server but it still won't let me delete it.

Is it possible to make coppermine forget that it is there? rather than have it delete the folder and contents?

I have sorted it out now. I re-uploaded the original files and then updated the album!
