I am having a problem with uploading videos.  I have no problem using FTP and batch add etc but my users can't get any success with the XP Publishing Wizard.  It works fine for photos and I even use it myself.

When uploading a video using it though the upload proceeds as normal, and I have monitored the outbound traffic and it does send the full data, but nothing appears in the album.  The wizard reports success everytime.

I can find no trace of the file checking the folders over FTP.  I have set the max upload to 200mb just for testing but this does not seem to be the problem.  File test sizes have been between 2 and 10 mb and WMV format.  WMV files work fine when uploaded via FTP and added manually to the album.  Serveral on the site working fine.

Test user login = cpgtester pswd = drowssap

Thanks in advance for any help and let me know if you need more information.

Is the problem only with the wizard?  Do your members have problems when uploading via the web upload interface?
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions

No the problem is only with the wizard.  The problem with using the web interface the file size is restricted to 2mb due to HTTP limits so FTP or the Wizard is the only way for user to upload large files.

Is it possible that Image Magic is trying to resize the video when using the Wizard and maybe this is why CM is dumping the file?

I have completed some addtional tests and it appears that any file over 2mb (the file servers HTTP limit) fails.  I can succesfully upload videos less than 2mb but anything over fials to appear in the album even though the wizard reports success.  I guess the wizard must use the same HTTP Post method hence the failure?

To confrim I have turned off resizing as well as set the file size to 200mb and also the pixel size to 20000 just to elimiate those settings.

Any suggestions other than using FTP?

Thanks,

Nigel

Make your users resize before uploading.

Make your users resize before uploading.

Its not photos that are the issue and not many videos are less than 2mb...  The average video is between 5mb and 15mb.

not suitable for your server setup then. When it comes to webhosting, you get what you pay for imo.

Well I don't know to many hosts that allow big files over HTTP and no one will give you control of PHP.ini on a shared server.  I hope that in later releases of CPG there might be a solution to get round this.  CPG is by far the best gallery imo but lacks some of the upload support of its competition  :(  I'll stick a suggestion in the new feature requests section.

Thanks anyway...

I have shared hosting that lets me edit php.ini, and can upload big files over http.
