Can I delete upload.php file without problems

I am a long time user of coppermine 1.3.5.
I feel a bit uncomfortable that everyone can run the upload.php file im my coppermine directory.

Is it safe to delete upload.php  file ?
Or should I leave the file within the directory.

I delited the upload.php file. Nothing worth happened.
No visual problems occured.
