I just installed 1.4.3.  I have made absolutely no changes in code, or modifications.  After installing, and clicking the "continue button" i get the following errors.  They also come up when going to the URL for coppermine on my server.

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/moto7net/public_html/shacklescastle/cpg143/index.php on line 181

and

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '\"' in /home/moto7net/public_html/shacklescastle/cpg143/index.php on line 181

The URL in question is http://www.moto7.net/shacklescastle/cpg143/index.php

I'm not the most tech savy person, and have yet to find CLEAR and EASY install and operation directions.

Can someone please help me..... :)

Please reply here, and send to my email :::  ismailloco@gaza.net

Thanks !!

Make sure you're using a qualified FTP client and not something from an improperly set up WYSIWYG editor that might have mucked with the code.

ok if i go to 1.4.4, do i have to do the entire dowload, set and install again?

I am suing a stable FTP manager, from GoLive.  I have never had trouble with it before.

Thanks, I hope you can reply again.

That's not a proper FTP app, but (as Thu suggested) some WYSIWYG editor crap component. Use a real FTP app like Filezilla, SmartFTP, WS_FTP etc.

arab_bedouin

yes i use a real ftp client, it does not make any changes to anying.  it is part of my golive application.

Is 1.4.4 just a security update?  where can i find 1.4.4 for download?

And can anyone tell me what those error messages mean?

Thanks.

SOLVED !!!

I dowloaded 1.4.4, unzipped it on my local computer, renamed the folder to be uploaded, then used my FTP client in golive to send it to the server, then changed the permissions to 777 on the server admin site wihtout using chmod, and now everything works !!!

Thanks everyone for your ideas and assistance.
