I've been going through php files all morning and I'm having a huge problem.. I love Coppermine and it's ability for me to upload photos while on trips. I have one thing I dont like, its the Random Photos and Last Upload Photos that are on the bottom of the main page.. I cannot find the php file for that part so I can remove it to only show the Categories..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Storm,

I was just in the same boat.  It is good you asked, it saved me the trouble of posting and for anyone else who knows better than us to answer back.  Also, I was coming from a different angle -- I was trying to change the layout arrangement for the "Categories-Album List" and the  "Thumbnails" -- not on removing stuff as you wanted to do, and how the FAQ was phrased.  Because of the comment about "not asking stupid questions", I was looking for threads dealing with "layout" rather than about removing or/adding stuff.

I am sure we are not the only one who has encountered this or will encounter the same problem.  It is more a case of being inexperienced with the program. Like you, I was also looking for a PHP script where I might do this -- because that is how the other programs I have used so far -- those with defined ".php" and ".tpl" scripts -- do theirs, when the formatting is kept separate from the content.

And thanks for posting this, and also for Nibbler to point the "correct FAQ" where the question was answered, I was now able not only to rearrange the order of the above features in the layout, I was also able to add features that I would not have thought possible.

But here is a suggestion to whoever is writing the documentation and FAQ, and I hope the core group take this suggestion as one with good intention -- coming from the point of view of beginning users.

Maybe make the title in the Config section more clear.  For example:

Album list view  -> Main Page Album List View

and in the FAQs instead of a negative question, how about including also  positive question(s):

How do I rearrange the order of the Categories and Thumbnails in the Main Page?

How do I  add a separate section for the thumbnails of the Most Viewed pics in the Main Page?

they point to the same answer, as indicated in "I don't want to show the last uploads and/or random pictureson the start page. How do I edit what's shown on the start page of coppermine?"

but that is the whole point of the FAQ section, to answer questions from beginners coming from different perspectives.
For this very reason,  a separate FAQ must be included in the FAQ section for the various features indicated in the answer.

Obviously, there is not need to repeat the answer, just point to the main (similar) question where this was answer.    However, if  I were to write the FAQ myself, I would use the "positive" question:

"How do I rearrange the order of the Categories and Thumbnails in the Main Page?"

as the primary question, since that is the default format of the existing program that is released.
