Integrate ramdom photos and last albuns to website's 1st page

Hi everyone,

I have a photo website and I'm using CPG for the photo galleries. What I'd like to do is to integrate the last albuns created and some random photos on the index of the site.
I know I'll have to change this from an HTML to a PHP file, and I guess I could also use a "trial and error" approach, because I'm a zero at PHP, but I was hoping someone had already seen this or perhaps there's a tutorial somewhere I haven't found.
