how do i get rid of the gap between my top picture and the gallery, you can see what a mean herewww.skateonline.fan-sites.org/gallery

does anyone know how i get rid of it, thanks in advance.  :)

I assume you mean the blank line(s) just above the "Home :: Login" line?

If so, go into template.html and remove the following lines:
<h1>{GAL_NAME}</h1>
<h3>{GAL_DESCRIPTION}</h3><br />

You must have the gallery name & description blank on the config panel.  You could also modify the above 2 lines instead to do whatever you like.

I found the answer to your question by looking at "View Source" on your web page and seeing what HTML was at the place of the blank spot.  Then I looked in template.html and would have looked in theme.php (or sample/theme.php) for matching HTML to figure out where to do the theme customization.

By the way, you are running version 1.4.2.  You are strongly recommended to upgrade to the current version (1.4.6) to incorporate important security fixes.  The upgrade steps are listed in the documentation.

no sorry i meant the big gap above the table, outside it but thanks for your other help will get rid of that to,

I don't see a big gap. Post a screenshot - browsers differ.

I think the problem is your banner image has a blank area at the bottom.  Unless you want to have the table overlap the bottom of the image (which is extra work unless you really want that effect), you should just crop your image appropriately.

Take a look at your image: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c374/ash_car/gallerytop2.jpg.
