Hi there, apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong area...

I was wondering, would somebody more skilled at coding than myself be able to tell me how to add an extra field & two radio buttons to the Edit One Pic/Edit All Pics in an Album pages? Specifically, what I'm interested in doing is having a field called "Photo Credit". The gallery I run is mainly made up of our own photos, but sometimes we're given permission to use photos that belong to other people. As part of this, we then add text underneath the relevant photos saying "Photo by: <name/organisation>" - which is done in the Description field.

At the moment it looks rather messy, as I'd prefer that this text is only displayed on the Image view (and not on the album view). To see what I mean, have a look at this example - the credits only really need to be shown on the image view itself.

Which got me thinking that it'd be very handy to have the Photo Credit field, with two radio buttons next to it (for choosing between the text "Photo by:" and "Image by:". The gallery's theme could then call this - ignoring it if the text field is empty - and display the credit underneath the image's caption on the Image Display page. It would also have to use BBcode in case I needed to put [url] tags either side of the person/organisation's name. I'm aware that I'd need to insert extra fields into one of the tables in the database as well.

I know this is possible, and I have tried to find this, or a similar hack to modify, but I've not found anything... and I certainly don't trust my own limited coding knowledge to jump in there and try writing it myself!

If anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated! :-*

Check to see in Config>Thumbnail View>Display file caption (in addition to title) below the thumbnail = No. This should remove the text in the album view but show in the photo view.
Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.

I could do that, but I was hoping to get it so that the image description does get displayed in both the album view and the image view... but have the photo credit show in just the image view. Hence the convaluted idea of how to achieve this! ;)

OK... now I understand better. Hopefully one of our knowledgable Devs can help you out.

Thanks very much! :) I had to modify it so that it shows underneath the image regardless of whether the user has the File Information box visible. But it works perfectly now, many thanks indeed!
