Hi,

I just recently notices some strange issues.  I can log in normally to my site at http://unholymenace.com as the admin user(s), but none of the other users can log into to the software anymore.  I was running version 1.4.5 and updated to 1.4.8.  I originally started with 1.4.3.  I tried reseting the cookie name to something else, as I had read that some people had done this to resolve similar issues, but I still see no change in this behavior.  The user logs in and gets the welcome message, but then it is like they never logged in as they never have any options besides to log in again.  What can I do to debug this, I am at my wits end?

Another odd thing is that the file version check tool comes back saying that pretty much all of the files it thinks should be there are missing, even though the software is functioning normally in terms of using it, and the files it is looking for are there.  Why would that be?  Could I have some odd configuration that needs updating or something.

Total files/folders checked:  242
Mandatory files missing: 125
Optional files missing: 116
Files left over from outdated Coppermine version: 0
Outdated file versions: 0

Your cookies look fine. Make sure your groups are setup correctly, ie. all users are in a group that exists.

The groups are valid.  I tried even adding a new user as an administrator and it would not work correctly.  I'm really stumped.  I discovered that one of my pre-existing users still works, but I definately can't seem to create a new user that works.  I'm just boggled as to where to look.

Nothing has changed with the files version check, it is still borked.

Upgrade as suggested in the docs, making sure to replace all files during the upgrade process.

So I actually did do the upgrade like you mentioned, from 1.4.5 to 1.4.8 and am still seeing the problem, so I am a bit stumped as to what is happening.  Is it possible this could be related to the theme that I use?  I created a theme for 1.4.3 that I am still using, and it seems to work fine for existing users, but not for new users.  I guess I'll try again, but I'm really stumped as to what to try next.

A theme made for cpg1.4.3 should work with cpg1.4.8 as well. Temporarily try another theme, e.g. classic: http://unholymenace.com/?theme=classic

I found the same problem in my gallery, I thought it was a problem with hosting, I looked into mysql database - there were some IP addresses which were banned - deleting these items has resolved this problem, but I´m sure this is only temporary

Was this in the actual coppermine DB itself, or just part of the general user table stuff?  Because that is an interesting possibility...  My fiance' was having some password troubles a while back and if he was autobanned and the ban was based on IP address, that might explain some things...
