hi,

this is florian. my english is not the best, but i hope you can help me. i have uploaded a lot of pics in one album. this album belongs to this the group "Registered". now i want to link some pics (but not all) to a different album which belongs to the group "Anonymous". if i linked some pics i can't see the pics in the "Anonymous-Group-Modus". What can i do, so i don't have to upload the pics to times on the server?????

i hope you can help me. thanks

Linked files still respect permissions. If anonymous users are not allowed to see pics inside a particular album, they won't be able to see them no matter what - even if you link them from somewhere else.

To do what you want, you'll need to move the files available to anonymous users to the anonymous album. Than in the registered album, create a link to those anonymous files. That way, anonymous users can view files in anonymous album, and the registered users can see the same files in their album.

hi,

the second answer is falsh TranzNDance!

If I upload all pictures in an anonymous album, anonymous user can see these pictures. But if I link one picture of these in an registered album and the registered user logged in, he can't see this linked picture.

How can I solve this problem?

I don't need it to link pics in different album from the same user-group. I want to show anonymous users pics from an event but anonymous users should not see the private pics from the event. So i want to link pics between unser-groups.

thanks for help

The pics that are suppossed to be seen for everyboy should of course have the "can be viewed by" porperties set to "everybody" - they mustn't be set to "anonymous users only", as this would exclude the registered users.

There is no way you can set the "can be viewed by" properties to two (or more) groups. However, users can be members of several groups.

If you have an album "x" that is suppossed to be viewed by members of group "A" and another album "y" that is suppossed to be viewed by group "A" and "B", then the only workaround is to create another group "C" and make all members of groups "A" and "B" become members of group "C" as well. You can do so as admin pretty easily (remember that the primary group for all groups should be "registered" and only the secondary groups (the checkboxes) can vary). Then change the "can be viewed by" property of album "y" to be for members of group "C" only. This is a bit complicated and is being considered to be improved in future coppermine versions, but for now you have to use this workaround.

Sorry about that, floricomet. GauGau's clarification explains why it doesn't work. But I know that it works (when properly set up as GauGau described) because I'm doing it for my gallery.
