I have just upgraded today from 1.2.1 as described on http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm (3.4).  I have run update.php successfully and saved the appropriate files and albums. All is there as before, all photos, stats, comments etc.... except I cannot login because the links are not there and even if I add theme=classic for example to the address bar the login name and password does not work.  I do not see any link to login as before on the default (old but not working yet) theme.  There was a custom theme, which I still have. But as I look at how to upgrade the theme I am totally lost.  Since I cannot login, I cannot do this 'bridge-manager' step etc.  I would even accept being able to default to a pre-made theme ... alas... I do not even know how to do that.  :(  I DO have the proper password and name but it does not now work when I switch to theme=classic to see the buttons.

My question: is there anyone out there who can finish this upgrade for a reasonable fee, it is beyond me.  As a last resort, my next step if no reply will be to scrap the whole thing and install the entire gallery over again , losing all stats etc.

To see what I am talking about, my gallery is at:

In the future, don't try to hijack unrelated threads (not once nor even twice). Don't double-post nor cross-post. I split your postings from those unrelated threads and merged them into this thread. Respect board rules in the future, you're causing extra moderation effort. Supporters are reluctant to help if you do this.

Can you post a non-admin test user account?
Try logging in using http://www.imperialcrowns.com/cpg/login.php?theme=classic&referer=index.php

I do apologize.... I soon later saw a more appropriate place to post relating to my upgrading which is from 1.2.1 (or so I thought)... not here at 1.3.3.  Didn't understand I was interfering with a thread and needed a new subject.  :(

To answer your suggestion: I have tried it and NO, I cannot login as administrator there with correct username/password, nor do I have an existing non-admin account & password to log into.  If I click 'forgot my password': my admin email is not recognized either.

Although I do see some new comments posted today when using the 'classic' theme and by click on 'last comments'.  I had been having trouble with spam like this before... (see comments with (...) in them) This is the whole reason I decided to upgrade in the first place... and it seems that spam is still miraculously happening even with this broken gallery.

I am totally lost and would appreciate any sound advice from anyone.

Again, I apologize for unknowlingly "hijacking" an existing thread.  Maybe Coppermine is not for me. :(  Next step would be to reinstall the whole thing from scratch?  That I would do I guess.... but THAT=1 BIG DRAG!

So does the login just not stick or did your forget your admin password. The "forgot password" link is only meant to be used if you forgot your password, as it will subsequently reset your password. It can only work if you filled in your email address in your admin user's profile (not related to the email address you specified in coppermine's config).

However, if your admin login doesn't stick, that's a different animal. There might be several reasons for this:
1) Pseudo-security apps like "Norton Internet Explorer" that block cookies. Review your client.
2) Security-patches on your server that are suppossed to harden your site against attacks. You might want to ask your webhost for support on this issue.

If you don't have a test user account, try creating one using phpMyAdmin, browsing coppermine's users table. Alternatively, you might want to try the mod bmossavari has posted many times already: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=33629.0

Well to be honest... I was freaking out just today from so much porn/sales spam appearing in the 'comments' so I quickly changed the password by altering some usual patterns, thinking "they" knew it.  I simply had forgot that fact initially this evening. Dumb... I know.  ::)  :-[  I have now upgraded successfully to 1.4.9.

I have not yet tackled the tasks of bridge manager OR of upgrading my personalized theme yet so I am using the theme templates provided ....and I have noticed a couple quirks.

Of the provided themes I have tried, (eyeball, mac_ox-x, project_vii)  they all seem to NOT show the login home or optional FAQ links until I hover/waive the mouse over the "home" tab icon ..... and maybe the @ tab icon in mac template.  After that, they are there but not before.  'classic' template seems to be ok from the start.

AND also, possibly it is a option in 'config' but I don't see where... 'comments' cannot be left until one is logged in?  Is that correct?  If it is a glitch, I like it as an option ...although I do not see how to reverse it and allow unlogged in users to leave comments as well.

that is all, I appreciate your comments.

you need to hover mouse over @ for thos themes , This is natural and expected behavior

You need to set it under group manager
‍I don't answer to PM with support question
Please post your issue to related board

You need to set it under group manager
...as in all previous coppermine versions. This hasn't changed, so I suggest you start reading the docs and only ask questions on things that are not covered there already.
Also keep in mind that we have a "one question per thread" policy that you agreed to respect when signing up. Do so in the future. As you initial question was solved, I'm marking this thread as "solved" and lock it.

Look, you already misbehaved several times:
- hijacking an unrelated thread (twice)
- double-posting / cross-posting
- asking questions that actually were invalid (as you have caused the error yourself by changing the password)
- not respecting the "one issue per thread" rule
- asking questions that are covered in the docs

I strongly suggest to:
  • read the docs
  • read the FAQ
  • search the board for any questions you have before asking them
  • read the sticky threads on the sub-boards where you want to reply or start a new thread
  • read the board rules
