I am seeking someone(s) with the necessary skills to create a customized version of the 'project vii' theme for me.

I generally like this theme but it is really presents a too cluttered UI on my site www.david-keenan.com. Site feedback tells me that it is too overwhelming to viewers and needs to be significantly streamlined.

I want something that unfolds more slowly (i.e.. shows less on the main gallery page) but invites viewers to "come in" to categories/albums that they find interesting -- rather than blast out all categories stacked on top of each other as is the default behavior.

I also want the resulting (more simple) gallery page to not be the home page but to come behind a slick home page (one that has links to the gallery, an artist statement, bio, etc.).

Of course, more details will need to be ironed out.

If anyone is interested in working on this for me ($$$ payment is possible), please contact me directly at ausdlk@gmail.com.

Thanks.

Here's the specific board for paid help - http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?board=30.0.

However, you can try a couple of simple adjustments that may meet your needs.

1. Remove the Random photos at the top.

2. Create an anycontent.php file and have it positioned at the top of the page. This will give your visitors a little idea of what to find  in the gallery. http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_album_list.

3. Write a short description for each category and then go to Config=> Album list view=>Show first level album thumbnails in categories=>No. This will remove the ablum thumbnails and list only the title text for each album in that specific category.

These are things that are simple to do and easily reversable but yet can make the gallery more elegant.

Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.

You shouldn't have posted a new thread on the paid help board. A moderator would have moved this one. Sadly, you double-posted, that's why I'm marking this thread accordingly.

Gizmo --

Your suggestions are terrific. The "new" site just about solves all of the problems that my viewers were gripping about. I had to fix a few things in the theme code but in general your suggestions were just what the doctor ordered.

Hi Dave,

Yes, this looks much simplier and elegant. You mentioned
QuoteThe "new" site just about solves all of the problems
so if there are other things we can help with, please let us know.
