Nwebbie trouble uploading pictures...

Hey,

I am using version 1.4.6 and when I am uploading I get a message like:"The previous file could not be placed. You have successfully placed all the files."
Any ideea about this? And maybe I should dare one more question. How do I install GD on a PHP 4.4.4 installation as long as it ssems that it does nor exist or am I just to new to the story?
