Using version 1.4.10

History: 1.4.10 installed in new folder to allow setting up before deleting the original so they are currently running in parallel. Set up with new mysql db to keep everything seperate. All works fine.

However, the new version was set up using Firefox as my reference browser and I now have it 'nearly' how I want it (except for finding one grey background!'. Only the colours have been changed and the banner changed from the original meltingfilm_left theme, 1.4 version.

When I try it in IE6 though it throws a number of wobblies!
Underline becomes overline (now above the text)
The 'hover' flashes
Thumbnails ok but full version becomes grossly overexposed

Just to repeat, in Firefox it ALL works fine

Any ideas?

Ok, judicious cleansing of cache, cookies and temp files helped somewhat along with a couple of other changes has cured everything but:

.......it seems I am left with one main problem which I can't seem to solve. Thumbnails ok but full version becomes grossly overexposed in line with the subdued shading area. It appears that the initial thumbnail is shaded (you probably have a tecnical term for it, percentage of Opacity?), when hovered it lightens to normal. When clicked to bring up the picture it appears to re-do the lightening action again. This is only in IE, Firefox is OK.

It would be nice to have if it worked but I would rather remove it altogether if it can't be fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any plugins installed, disable them to see if that helps. Have you customized the theme.php file?

I have no plugins or even know what they are..........guess thats why I have 'buttons' I don't really want..........

I have not touched theme.php, I haven't a clue what it means. When choosing a theme I simply looked for one that was similar to what I wanted and that I could live with by applying just a few colour changes, similar to last time.

The problem I refer to is questionable as to whether it is a problem at all

Forgetting trying to get it right on my machine I have tried meltingfilm on a number of machines using the 'Demo' page here and I have to wonder if it is actually an intentional design feature. If it is then I cannot understand the reasoning behind it, personally!. On all machines the response is the same as described above, ie, the full pic looks grossly overexposed but I have subsequently found that if you place the cursor over the pic, it goes back to normal, so...............is this actually what it is designed to do? If so, it adds complication and silly (imho) effects not normally associated with a photo gallery. No one wants their final pic messed with, surely.

Using IE6:
Go here: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/displayimage.php?album=29&pos=4 and place your cursor over the pic and then remove it from the pic completely. Is it the same on your machine?

In style.css, it seems to appear in three parts. Placing a '//' before the third part stops it working although there are still some flashy hover effects to get rid of.

It would be interesting to know if this 'overexposure' is intentional or is it a bug. Other sites/software offer a similar thing but without affecting the final image in this way and does look quite cool. Many use it on pbase, among others, for effect. I regret I can't use it with this brightnes increase though . I would like to know if anyone knows this piece of Microsoft? script and can this effect be removed or adjusted out.

Now, if I could only find how to get rid of the "Additional Field" button ....................

They are proprietary ms filters added by the theme designer. If you don't want them then remove them from the css file. See http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=31620.0 for previous discussion.

I have decided to kill the problem rather than cure it because even when working right the novelty wears off very quickly!

I will find that 'additional field' though, search results so far have dealt with all sorts of 'remove', 'additional' and 'field' subjects but not all three together but I know it's there!!
