We are looking for a Gallery apllication for a client.

Coppermine looks very good.

They need to bulk upload many photos which your application handles.

But they also need to upload the Category, Description & Custom fields as a .csv file.

They have 3 - 4,000 images and it would be impossible to do the descriptions etc. one by one.

Can application do this - we can't find any reference in the documentation to uploading bulk loading the data side of things.

Thanks

the admin of coppermine photo gallery can upload by ftp and batch-add the pics to the database with a menu item (that is visible for admins only) that will do the creation of thumbnails and intermediate-sized pics as well. Unfortunately, this process doesn't giv the user the possibility to batch-add Title, description etc. as well in one go, so you have to edit the pic description and add them (in the gui) as well.
Version cpg1.3.0 will also feature multiple http uploads (especially for non-admin users), and finally your users can use the xp publisher tool (if the run Windows XP). The possibility to add descriptions by uploading a csv file doesn't exist, but you could code a little app (as an add-on) that will convert the csv into "real" mySQL queries and run them against the db.

I suggest you just get a copy of the latest version (cpg1.3.0beta4 at the moment) and do a test-install to find out about the full features and decide then if coppermine fits your needs for your customer.
