Delete Uploaded Orignal images

when people upload images with a  width or height over 600  the gallery will resise the image and (file size to around 40kb) which is what i want because i do not have much webspace but i have noticed it keeps the main file they uploaded on the server and unused. which is a big waste of space, is there any way to stop this ?.
