categories

I can create a new category but cant find how to set permissions to it, i want it to be possible to choose which category/album to upload to, is that possible?

From the Sub Menu - click on categories.  It will pull up a listing of all the categories you have set up, from there, click on the 'e' to edit the categories.  there you can set permissions for a few of the options, including user uploads yes/no.  Might read the docs, they explain everything in detail..

That's wrong - you can't set permissions by category.
Instead, click on "properties" next to the thumbnail that represents an album. Then edit "visitors can upload files" as you see fit. Note that this is being covered in the docs - please read them before asking more questions.
