I hope I post this correctly, please bare with me i am new to this. The entire message reads:
Destination directory albums/userpics/ is not writable by the script !

File: /home/arac5591/public_html/photogallery/db_input.php - Line: 331

I have spent 18 hrs attempting to find the answer to this message with no success. It appears the user pics folder ended up in batch add. I would like to say i didnt do it but i don't know for sure. My thumbnails now appear with only a "X".  Is it possible to correct this problem without wiping out my gallery.
I have debugged please let me know if you require the info

If i attempt to use to delete function under the thumbnail i receive this message:

Critical error 

Directory 'albums/userpics/' is not writable, files can't be deleted
