MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/m

First I had a problem viewing the install.php but got it working finally and now after filling out the required fields I get this message.


MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)



Any ideas?  Sorry I hope this isn't a basic question, I did search google and found some info about modding a path for a sock file and doing other things but this was for a whole different thing.  I don't know if it would work for coppermine aswell, didn't want to try and screw it up though.
