Hi - Im having a bit of probs setting up users in Cpg1412 and wondered if anyone could help me.
I want each user that logs in to be able to see their gallery and their gallery only..
I have set up some test users - but the users seem to inherit the permissions from the group that they are in.
So user1 can see user2's pics and vice versa. Do i need to create a seperate group for each user or have i missed something. i have read though the manual and set things up accordingley - but i am still unable to lock down the rest of the photo gallery to other users.
The gallery is to be used fro wedding photos - so i don't want Mrs Smith seeing Mrs Jones's pictures and vice verca.
I also do not want any unregistered users to ber able to log in full stop - i think i may have set this up ok - but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Enable private albums in config and make the user albums visible to 'me only'.

Hmm , i had done that, but it seems to be still visible.
The only people that should be able to upload is admin. Would i have to upload as a user to make the album private.
I dont want users to be able to upload their own images.

Hi All, - i am trying to create a coppermine gallery so that when a user logs in he sees his photos and only that.
in other words - if i have 3 users - user1 user2 and user3 - when each one logs in - they will only see the album that belongs to them
The nature of this type of album i am creating means that Admin only can upload files and then set the permissions to users.
In other words - i want to be able to upload the files for User1 and then when User 1 logs in - he sees users1's photos and nothing else. Not most viewed or anything like that.
Same applies to all users and this will not change.
I seem to be doing something wrong , I uploading the files as admin - but the user1 can see users 2 & 3 files also.
I might be doing something wrong with the groups. Would I have to create a neew group AND assign 1 user to that group only?
I have read the documentation on the album permissions - but they seem to apply to groups only.
As the nature of the intened album is for wedding photos - so they are private- I want all files to remain private viewing for that user and that user only. As i stated - we want to upload the photos by admin account and not allow the user to do anything but view and maybe comment on his/her particular photos.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi-  thanks forn merging - i didnt know how to do that - or i wouldnt have cluttered the board.

My problem still stands and i have no idea how to solve it. Sorry for being a newbie - but thats just the way it is. you all have to learn something someyhow - I have read the documentation and the forums but i have not been able to resolve this issue. Despite the aparrent 7 replies to this thread - nothing has been answered and i would appreciate it greatly if someone could point me in the right direction. i am sure when i have found my way around - i maybe able to recipricate to other users.

I just want to get this out of the way so i can move onto the next part of customising the gallery. If it is not possible to do that i want then if someone tells me that is the case, -  i will  have to look at going in another direction.

its probabally the same question you have all heard before - but i dont know and would really appreciate the advice.

You are trying to do something that Coppermine is not designed for. You have 3 options:

1) Create a group for each user and then set assign the album to that group
2) Login as the user and upload into their user gallery, revoking upload rights afterwards.
3) Modify some code to get exactly what you want.
