i`ve just uploaded cpg1412 and when ai go to http://my-domain.co/install.php i get this :
Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(../../modules) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/usr/lib/php:/var/tmp) in /storage0/home/fredutzu.evolink.ro/www/install.php on line 21

Warning: require(include/sql_parse.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /storage0/home/fredutzu.evolink.ro/www/install.php on line 36

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'include/sql_parse.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /storage0/home/fredutzu.evolink.ro/www/install.php on line 36

so ... what seems to be the problem ??

The first message can be ignored. The last 2 are because you failed to upload all the files before attempting to install Coppermine - include/sql_parse.php is missing at least.

I'm thinking this is a result of the zip file not including the directory structures, so files aren't getting unzipped or they are getting written over.

This is the same error I got when I decided "well *maybe* they rewrote this version so that the installing process creates the directories, and they don't need to include those in the downloads for the core anymore" when IO discovered that every mirror had the same zip that is missing the directory structure.

The issue is that the extracted files do not have an include directory at all, so if one upl;oads what files they get and then hit the install.php file, well it's going to give that error.

Nibbler

This is an issue with your unzipping utility or your use of it. The files themselves are correct.

lisar

Has this been actually verified?

Or just assuming I'm a newbie having issues?

I've been installing coppermine on sites for the past 3 years, this isn't new to me. All I ask is that someone verifies the zip as created correctly and that it unzips to a fresh folder for you before assuming that it's user-error on my end.

If I'm unzipping files wrong then I need to lose my job as a tech support person, LOL.

If there was a major issue like this with the 1.4.12 release we would know it by now. Here is a screenshot for my system.

lisar

Hmmm what are you using?

I'm using WINzip, opening the archive, selecting all files, and then choosing the folder and clicking the extract button.

Rather hard to mess that up., but I'm not getting all the folders once it's extracted. :(

lisar

Nope, it wants to overwrite the files ... let me try your program, this isn't working with WINzip at all.

Have you actually gone through the entire unzipping yet - if for no other reason than to verify it's working on your end all the way?

lisar

I'm going to try this from my other three computers. Maybe one of them will handle this better - I'll say aye or nay depending on my success or failure. ::crosses fingers::

Is there some box to tick to preserve or recreate the directory structure? I use GNU/Linux so I can't help you with windows specific applications.

Crud. It was a CASE OF THE STUPIDS.  :-\

I will need o tell my boss to kick my sorry butt to the curb. LOL  :-\

My boyfriend had clicked off the "Use Folder Names" box - so yup this as USER ERROR.

Sorry about that.

Geez. I just became the calls I hate the most.  :-[

My most humble apologies.
