Modify Breadcrumb, need some advice!

Hello,

I would like to remove the first part of the category level in the breadcrumb. I know this could easly be achieved by putting all the sub-categories into the first level, but that gives me another problems with  queries that i don't want to deal with.

Is there any simple way to do this?
