The convert program said:

So where do we go from here..I trawled through some posts here but no luck in finding something to guide me.

Any pointers?

Check if ImageMagick is installed, check if you entered the correct path to it in config.
If that doesn't work, you also could try to use GD2 instead.

If this is all russian to you then contact your hoster and ask them if ImageMagick is installed or GD2.

That said the problem is image , re-save it with photoshop solved the issue

This is not a coppermine issue

Thank you to those who replied.

I took the images and resized them and this worked.

Although it was not the file size that was the problem it appears it was resolution or pixel dimensions. However I can't be sure unless I run tests. I don't have the time for that all I can say is that is this worked. I guess this is covered in the FAQ but wasn't immediately obvious.

Anyway.....
